The City of Greensburg is one seamless thriving community. Downtown Greensburg is once again vibrant, with pedestrians on the street and people shopping in Downtown businesses during the day with various entertainment options at night.  Downtown Greensburg is a destination attracting and welcoming residents and tourists from throughout the region.

 Our community is a unique place where people enjoy living, working and playing.  Downtown has a friendly, cheerful atmosphere, with courteous people who treat each other with respect.   In addition, Downtown is a safe place "to bring your family."

Downtown's rich history is featured and its historic architecture has been preserved. We are hoping to fill commercial buildings with viable businesses on the firstfloor and residential living on the upper floors.

Pennsylvania Avenue

Businesses and shops are concentrated in and around the revitalized downtown and compliment the businesses located along majo rtransportation corridors. Our Merchants work together, help each other, and get involved in moving Downtown “in a forward direction."

Art and entertainment opportunities can be found in abundancein the Downtown District.  Residents and visitors enjoy events at the Palace Theater and the Seton Hill University Center for the Performing Arts and family-oriented summer concerts espcecially the "SummerSounds" series at the Robertshaw Amphitheater.  Artwork by local and regional artists is displayed in galleries and shops.                                  

Downtown is becoming the “hot spot” for college students and young adults featuring evening activities, trendy bars and unique restaurants.

Public and private financial investment in commercial and residential properties have improved the quality and amount of livable and productive space.  More people are living in the Downtown District with the addition of loft style apartments and condos.  There are an abundance of opportunities for businesses to provide services to Downtown residents.

Keeping Downtown clean is a priority. Many downtown business and property owners have taken advantage of the City's facade improvement program and put more emphasis on seasonal storefront cleaning and updated window displays.  The City has added horticultural elements such as planters, flowers and trees to 'green and soften' downtown.

Visitors and residents can enjoy experiences that are unique and stimulating.  Downtown is appreciated by a wide variety of users and customers, including: local residents, residents of Greater Greensburg, and residents of adjacent counties; young people and families; tourists who come to enjoy the arts and culture, the Laurel ridge, outdoor activities, unique destinations, and history of the region; and those drawn to the area by high school and university sports.

The City of Greensburg is perceived as the downtown for the Central Westmoreland County area, the location to start and grow a business, and the neighborhoods to live and raise a family.
