Adopt-A-Hydrant Program

Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department (GVFD) is pleased to introduce a new community service program offering residents and business owners an opportunity to adopt a fire hydrant close to their home or business for a minimal fee of $15.  Upon completion of an Adopt-A-Hydrant application, the GVFD will determine if the hydrant the applicant has requested is available, place a HI-VIZ safety flag marker on it and supply them with an adoption certificate.  Participants in the program will be responsible for keepoing their adopted hydrant properly painted in accordance with specifications from the GVFD; and free of debris such as high grass and snow so that it is always visible and accessible.

The program will assist the GVFD in recognizing fire hydrants much faster in emergency situations specifically at night and during bad weather.  For more information about the Adopt-a-Hydrant program, you may email This email address is being protected from spambots.
